COLLECTION
It represents these unique, special and contradictory sensations that forge the personality of everyone living in an island. Along my life I have established my residence in many places, always having the feelin of being just a visitor, up to falling down under the spell of the island of Fuerteventura.
What makes the island? Why does it catch you?
This collection tries to catch these subjective sensations that cause this effect that receives that special, almost tectonic, strenght in the territory of the Canary Islands, and in a totally heart-breaking way in Fuerteventura.
It is not a realistic collection, though figurative, mixing insular recognizable elements with imaginary ones, in orther to express these emotions the island transmits, it does not try to represent merely the insular landscape, but the sensations perceived living it, such as this mystical respect for the territory, this sensation of being that small under the overwhelming force of the nature.
These particular elements as, its light, its wind, its 'calima', its 'insularity', its heat, its cold, its calmness, its loneliness, are not static, the island is dynamic, unpredictable.
The captivating force of its combination makes, in essence, the contradictory idiosyncrasy of the Island of Fuerteventura, branding the opened but distrustful, nice but modest personality of its inhabitants.
Definitively, an island is alive, and in an act of generosity without limit the nature shares it with its inhabitants, fullfilling them with life.

When you feel that the force of nature can sweep away everything in seconds, and you realize all you consider immutable is no more than an instant in the capricious hands of natural order.

INSULARIDAD INVERSA
INSULARIDAD INVERSA (Inverse insularity), when the values turn inside out, and the island turns into your world, and you are worried of what happens outside, but it is just something happening in the distance, that you observe from inside home. Like one that observes a thunderstorm across the window knowing you are safe inside.
AIRE SÓLIDO
AIRE SÓLIDO (Solid air), when in a hot day the water from the sea evaporates and the air turns so dense that it seems you can to chew it.
CALIMA EN EL CREPÚSCULO
CALIMA EN EL CREPÚSCULO (Calima at Twilight), when the airborne dust coming from the desert on twilight, consumes the colours and transforms the mountains into spectres in the distance.
VIVE EN PAZ
VIVE EN PAZ (Live in peace), when the island makes you feel in peace with yourself and the universe.
VIVE SIEMPRE
VIVE SIEMPRE (Live Forever), when the island makes you feel that you want this moment lasts forever.
INSULARIDAD MUTUA
INSULARIDAD MUTUA (Mutual Insularity), when you travel to other islands and you feel its insularity unconnected, and then you can't resist to look for a raised place to look over the horizon, searching the quiet to restore this umbilical invisible cord that joins you to Fuerteventura, would give to you.
CALIMA TEMPRANA
CALIMA TEMPRANA (Early Calima), when the airborne dust coming from the desert appears with the Sun of the dawn transforming the wind into a soft early-rising breeze.
CALIMA EN EL ZENIT
CALIMA EN EL ZÉNIT (Calima in the Zenith), when the airborne dust coming from the desert increases the sensation of, there is nothing between you and the Sun of midday, and you would give everything you have in exchange for a shaded area.
VIVE EL VIENTO
VIVE EL VIENTO (Live the Wind), when you realize that this omnipresent wind is the artist who molds the landscape of the island

VIVE HOY (Live today), when you visit the island, and you don't want to leave, but you know it is not going to happen, and you decide to live it now.
CALIMA DIFUSA
CALIMA DIFUSA (Diffuse Calima), when the airborne dust coming from the desert is not dense enough to be perceived directly, producing this special, phantasmagoric light, and you cannot avoid to imagine these spectral landscapes in the forms and colours of the sky over the horizon.
CALOR HÚMEDO
CALOR HÚMEDO (Wet Heat), when the humidity and the heat distort the images in the distance.
CALOR SECO
CALOR SECO (Dry Heat), when the heat is so dry that it seems even the ocean it might crack.
